As part of its working visit to Italy, on July 7, 2026, a delegation from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT), led by Assoc. Prof. Dang Hoai Bac – President of PTIT, held a working session with the leadership of the University of Trento to discuss potential cooperation in education, scientific research, and innovation, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, information security, and innovation management.

Attending the meeting on behalf of the University of Trento were Prof. Flavio Deflorian – Rector; Prof. Luigi Palopoli – Director of the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science; Prof. Gabriella Berloffa – Director of the School of Economics and Management; together with representatives from the University’s academic and international cooperation units. The PTIT delegation included Assoc. Prof. Dang Hoai Bac – President of PTIT; Assoc. Prof. Ngo Quoc Dung – Director of the Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (RIPT); Dr. Do Trung Anh – Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Dr. Nguyen Viet Hung – Deputy Head of the Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation; Dr. Vu Hoai Nam – Head of the Department of Applied Artificial Intelligence and Head of the YIRLoDT Lab; and Dr. Pham Hoang Anh – Head of the Control and Automation Division and Head of a research laboratory under the Faculty of Electronics Engineering 1.

At the beginning of the meeting, the University of Trento introduced its overall development strategy, highlighting its strengths in education and research in computer science, robotics, and information security, as well as its comprehensive portfolio of English-taught bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs. The University also shared its experience in implementing Industrial PhD programs, dual-degree programs, international exchange initiatives, and its innovation ecosystem through the School of Innovation and Innovation Management programs.

On behalf of PTIT, Assoc. Prof. Dang Hoai Bac introduced the PTIT’s strategic vision of becoming a leading digital university while highlighting its strengths in developing high-quality technology talent, scientific research, and international cooperation. Representatives from PTIT’s academic units also presented PTIT’s ongoing research activities, including AI applications for supporting people with disabilities, foreign language learning, and information security research. They also proposed faculty development and training programs to strengthen research capacity and collaboration between the two institutions.

Recognizing the complementary strengths and development orientations of both institutions, the two sides discussed a number of potential areas of cooperation, including joint research projects, student and doctoral exchange programs, dual-degree programs, and stronger collaboration among research groups in AI, robotics, information security, and innovation management. Both parties agreed to continue discussions toward developing concrete cooperation initiatives and signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the near future.

The meeting not only strengthened the connection between PTIT and the University of Trento but also opened up promising opportunities for substantive cooperation in education, research, and innovation. Building on the shared directions discussed during the meeting, both institutions look forward to gradually implementing practical collaborative programs that leverage their respective strengths while creating more opportunities for faculty members, researchers, and students to study, conduct research, and engage internationally, thereby contributing to the development of high-quality human resources in strategic technology fields.
