The U.S. Mission in Vietnam announces the call for applications for the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program for the 2027–2028 academic year.
FULBRIGHT FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING ASSISTANT (FLTA) PROGRAM 2027–2028
The FLTA Program is a fully funded, non-degree program lasting 09 months, designed for full-time English teachers and professionals in related fields (such as American Studies, American Literature, American Culture, etc.) with no more than 07 years of teaching experience.
The program provides participants with opportunities to improve their teaching skills and English proficiency while expanding their understanding of U.S. society and culture through serving as Vietnamese language teaching assistants for American students and supporting Vietnamese language instruction at U.S. universities. Fulbright FLTAs engage with host institutions through conversation groups, extracurricular activities, and community projects.
Fulbright FLTAs are expected to assist in Vietnamese language classes for up to 20 hours per week and are required to enroll in two courses per semester, including at least one course related to U.S. Studies. Courses may be taken for audit or academic credit. FLTAs also coordinate and organize in-person or virtual cultural events and Vietnamese language clubs. Please refer to the official information for more details about the FLTA Program.
Vietnamese FLTAs are required to return to Vietnam after completing the 09-month Fulbright FLTA Program. The program does not provide support for dependents or family members. Dependents are not permitted to accompany participants at any time during the program, although family and friends may visit during holiday breaks. In addition, applicants who are pregnant and expected to give birth during the program period are not eligible.
