Following the meeting and discussions between Assoc. Prof. Dang Hoai Bac, President of the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT), and Mr. Jonathan Choi, Chairman of Sunwah Group, during a ministerial-level meeting chaired by Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan, Sunwah Group and PTIT held a working session at the Institute to discuss cooperation orientations in emerging technology fields.
On May 29, at PTIT’s Ha Dong campus, the meeting was attended by Mr. Jonathan Choi, Chairman of Sunwah Group, together with senior representatives of the Group. Representing PTIT were Dr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Vice President of PTIT, along with leaders from various units, including the Graduate School, Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation Management, Faculty of Electronics Engineering 1, Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Finance and Accounting, Faculty of Business Administration, and Faculty of Telecommunications 1.

Overview of the meeting
During the meeting, the two sides focused on discussing cooperation potential in UAV/drone technologies, smart logistics, AI applications, and innovation.

Dr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Vice President of PTIT, speaking at the meeting
Representing PTIT, Dr. Nguyen Trung Kien emphasized that, as a national key university and the only public university under the Ministry of Science and Technology, PTIT continuously promotes connections with enterprises to expand cooperation opportunities. These partnerships aim not only to improve the quality of high-level human resource training, but also to serve as a launchpad for innovation and startup ideas.
Dr. Nguyen Trung Kien further shared that PTIT is actively developing education and research programmes in strategic technology fields such as AI, UAVs, logistics, and digital transformation. The Institute hopes to strengthen collaboration with enterprises in order to help students engage with real-world challenges, enhance practical skills, and improve their adaptability to the demands of the technology market.
Representatives from PTIT’s academic units also discussed orientations for developing hands-on UAV training programmes, involving industry experts in teaching activities, organizing specialized seminars, and implementing practical technology projects for students and research groups.

Mr. Jonathan Choi, Chairman of Sunwah Group, speaking at the meeting
Expressing expectations for deeper cooperation between the two sides, Mr. Jonathan Choi stated that Sunwah Group has operated in Vietnam for more than 56 years and has consistently regarded education, technology, and innovation as key areas of cooperation. The Group currently maintains numerous partnerships with universities and organizations in Vietnam, while also seeking to expand connections with technology-oriented educational institutions in order to further contribute to the country’s technological development.
He also noted that, based on Sunwah’s extensive experience in developing the low-altitude economy and applying UAV technologies in urban management, logistics, agriculture, and public safety in China, the Group hopes to cooperate with PTIT to gradually localize technologies and develop practical applications related to these sectors. These are also strategic fields in which PTIT has strong expertise and development priorities.
Another key topic discussed during the meeting was promoting innovation and developing the technology startup ecosystem. PTIT representatives shared that the Institute has been entrusted by the Ministry of Science and Technology with several key missions related to innovation, including the vision of building PTIT into a technology unicorn incubator that fosters high-quality tech startups and contributes to national priorities in science, technology, and digital transformation.
Regarding this topic, Sunwah representatives noted that the Group established the Sunwah Innovation Center in 2018 and has extensive experience in supporting, connecting, and investing in technology startup projects. Many projects within Sunwah’s innovation ecosystem have achieved strong results in international technology competitions, particularly in AI, digital technology, and smart applications. On that basis, Sunwah expressed its readiness to receive startup project proposals from PTIT and provide investment and support for promising and suitable initiatives.
