On October 28, 2023, in Hanoi, Google and the National Innovation Center (NIC), Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) organized the closing ceremony of Google Career Certificate Program to summarize the 2022 – 2023 Program, and announce scholarships for 2024. At this event, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology was honored as Top 6 universities with the most students completing into a course under Google’s Digital Talent development program.
The Google Career Certificate Program (GCC) is a non-profit project of Google in Vietnam, sponsored by the National Innovation Center (NIC), under the Ministry of Planning and Investment. The program is part of a series of Google projects and activities that support improving digital skills and knowledge for the Vietnamese workforce. GCC offers scholarships to students of universities, colleges, and workers and job seekers in general to participate in the Program’s courses and after completing each course, students receive a vocational certificate. Google’s courses cover global value areas including: Information Technology Technical Support (IT Support), Data Analysis (Data Analytic), Project Management (Project Management), Technical Marketing Digital Marketing & Ecommerce and User Experience Design (UX Design) through the online learning platform www.coursera.org.
Officially launched on July 15, 2022, the Google Career Certificate Program has achieved significant success in bridging the digital gap in Vietnam, providing learning and development opportunities for 20,000 people. students, helping them access many new career opportunities. In addition, the Program has cooperated with VietnamWorks and TopCV to build a network of more than 100 recruitment partners.
At this event, Google pledged to continue through NIC to award Vietnam a total of 40,000 scholarships and introduce 3 new additional courses in the Digital Talent Development Program including Cybersecurity, Analytics Advanced Data Analytics and Business Intelligence. The courses are committed to free sponsorship by Google with a term until December 31, 2024.
In the future, the Google Career Certificate Program will continue to contribute to the sustainable development of the information technology industry in Vietnam. Awarding scholarships and providing quality courses will help promote the development and enhance the professional capacity of students.
