Dr. Kham Tan Somvong spoke about the shared history of both nations, recalling how, over nine decades ago, revolutionary leaders from Vietnam and Laos united in the struggle for independence from colonial rule, leading to the formation of the Indochinese Communist Party, the precursor to the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party. Under the leadership of the Indochinese Communist Party, the people of both nations fought together, driven by revolutionary determination, culminating in the achievement of independence in 1945.
“I would like to remind the students of the immense contributions of President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane, and Prince Souphanouvong, whose legacies continue to strengthen the bonds between our two countries,” Dr. Somvong stated.
