In the framework of the working trip  to Vanuatu from August 12 to 13, 2026, a delegation from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, President, held working sessions with the Minister of Education of Vanuatu, the National University of Vanuatu (NUV), and the Vanuatu Institute of Technology (VIT). The meetings focused on expanding cooperation in training, student exchange, joint research, and the application of digital platforms in education.

Upon the delegation’s arrival in Vanuatu, officials from the Ministry of Education of Vanuatu personally welcomed the delegation at the airport, demonstrating the Ministry’s attention and warm reception for PTIT.

Strengthening Long-Term Cooperation with the Ministry of Education of Vanuatu

At the working session on August 12, the Minister of Education of Vanuatu expressed pleasure in welcoming the delegation and spoke positively of the educational cooperation between Vanuatu and PTIT in recent years. The Minister thanked PTIT for receiving and supporting seven Vanuatu students currently studying in Vietnam, and expressed a desire for the two sides to work toward establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a foundation for a long-term partnership.

In 2026, Vanuatu is expected to send 120 students to Vietnam for study, including 21 students who will study at the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology. As the Ministry of Education of Vanuatu moves toward educational reform, the Vanuatu side also proposed strengthening staff exchanges and organizing short-term training courses at PTIT to enhance the capacity of its personnel, particularly in areas supporting the development of the digital economy. The Ministry also expressed a desire for more Vietnamese experts and technical staff to travel to Vanuatu to provide support.

During the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Hoai Bac affirmed that PTIT was ready to continue accompanying Vanuatu in human resource development. PTIT plans to provide an additional 12 scholarships for Vanuatu students, creating opportunities to study in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, while also offering scholarship opportunities for master’s-level study in Computer Science.

In addition, PTIT shared information about its online Vietnamese language learning application and its capacity to provide digital platforms for higher education, while promoting student exchange programs. The Minister of Education of Vanuatu is expected to visit Vietnam in late September or early October 2026, providing an opportunity for the two sides to further concretize areas of cooperation.

Connecting Directly with Educational Institutions in Vanuatu

Following the discussions at the ministerial level, on August 13, PTIT’s delegation held a working session with the National University of Vanuatu, focusing on programs that could be directly implemented between the two institutions.

The two sides discussed the development of an MoU, student exchanges, and postgraduate scholarships. The National University of Vanuatu expressed its readiness to facilitate students’ study in Vietnam, while PTIT could provide scholarship opportunities for postgraduate students.

Research cooperation was also identified as a promising area, with proposals for AIoT applications in smart agriculture and IoT solutions addressing climate change-related challenges. The two sides also discussed the possibility of developing digital university platforms and online training, with the aim of expanding access to education for learners in Vanuatu and other island nations in the South Pacific region.

During the working session with the Vanuatu Institute of Technology, after discussing VIT’s vocational training model from Certificate 1, 2, and 3 to Diploma level, the two sides discussed the possibility of developing transfer programs, creating opportunities for learners to continue their studies toward an engineering degree in Vietnam.

PTIT also proposed supporting the development of online training platforms. At the same time, the two sides discussed coordination with the Ministry of Education of Vanuatu to promote scholarship opportunities for students wishing to transfer to Vietnam.

The series of working sessions with the Ministry of Education and educational institutions in Vanuatu established connections ranging from cooperation orientations at the management level to programs that can be directly implemented between educational institutions. This provides a foundation for the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology to further expand cooperation with Vanuatu in human resource development, student exchange, applied research, and the digital transformation of education in the coming period.
