From January 14-16, 2026, at Hanoi Campus, the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT), in collaboration with the Korea Information Science Society (KIISE), hosted the 40th International Conference on Information Networks (ICOIN 2026). The event brings together hundreds of scholars, scientists, and experts from prestigious universities and research institutes worldwide, marking a significant milestone in the field of computer communications and network technology.
The year 2026 holds special significance as ICOIN celebrates its 40th anniversary (1986–2026). The four-decade journey not only affirms the academic prestige and professional quality of the conference, but also reflects its parallel development with the rapid growth of the Internet and global network infrastructure. From foundational research in computer networks, ICOIN has today become a prestigious scientific forum, pioneering discussions on new technological trends such as 6G, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Anh – Deputy Director of the PTIT delivered a speech
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Anh – Vice President of PTIT – emphasized the significance of PTIT being chosen as the host institution for the 40th anniversary conference of ICOIN. This is a recognition of the academic prestige, organizational capacity, and increasingly prominent role of the Institute in the regional and international network of information and communication technology research and training.
ICOIN 2026 bears a strong international imprint with the participation of scientists from many countries and territories in Asia, Europe, and North America. The conference selected 223 scientific papers for publication, including 30 papers by faculty and staff of PTIT. The presented works created a multi-faceted, in-depth, and up-to-date academic exchange space.
The highlight of the conference was the keynote presentations by leading international speakers such as Professor Moe Z. Win (Massachusetts Institute of Technology – MIT, USA) and Professor Shui Yu (University of Technology Sydney – UTS, Australia). Their in-depth analyses of quantum positioning, advanced wireless communication, and cybersecurity attracted significant attention from the research community and offered important insights for future research directions.
ICOIN 2026 was organized in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation, facilitating presentations, discussions, and academic networking for both domestic and international delegates. The scale of the event, the quality of expertise, and the composition of participants further affirmed ICOIN’s professionalism, openness, and increasingly prominent position within the international scientific conference system.
The topics discussed at ICOIN 2026 focused on current key research issues such as next-generation networks (5G, 6G, IoT), advanced mobile communication systems, AI-integrated intelligent network architecture, software-defined networks (SDN), and network virtualization (NFV). In addition, cloud computing, edge computing, big data processing, information security, privacy, and quality of service were also analyzed in depth, closely linking academic research with the practical needs of the digital society.
