On February 27, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Asia–Pacific regional round of the Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025 was successfully held. Three Vietnamese teams comprising nine outstanding students delivered an impressive performance, including five students from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT), winning all three top prizes of the competition: Excellent Award in the Computing Track, Second Prize in the Cloud Track, and Third Prize in the Network Track. With these achievements, all three Vietnamese teams have officially advanced to the Global Final, scheduled to take place in China in May 2025.

Vietnamese teams triumph with three awards at the Asia–Pacific regional round of the Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025 in Malaysia

The Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025 is an annual international ICT competition jointly organized by Huawei and the ASEAN Foundation, targeting university and college students majoring in information and communication technology worldwide. Under the theme “Connection, Glory, Future” and the slogan “I.C. The Future,” the competition aims to provide a global platform for competition and exchange, enhancing students’ ICT knowledge and practical skills.

After surpassing more than 8,000 candidates in the national round, over 110 outstanding students qualified for the Asia–Pacific regional round held in Malaysia. Participants competed across four tracks: Computing, Cloud, Network, and Innovation. Over five hours, students undertook two challenging rounds—the Written Exam (theory) and the Lab Exam (hands-on practice)—demonstrating in-depth knowledge and excellent practical skills in key areas such as Cloud computing, 5G, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Representing Vietnam, three teams consisting of the top nine students from the national round showcased remarkable competence and determination, outperforming 36 teams across the region to secure all three top awards. Specifically:

  • Computing Track: The team comprising Mai Thi Phuong and Nguyen Tu Kien (PTIT), and Duong Van Hiep (FPT University Hanoi) won the Excellent Award.

  • Cloud Track: The team including Dau Van Khoa (PTIT), Bui Quoc An (Academy of Cryptography Techniques), and Tran Hai Dang (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology – VNU-HCM) earned the Second Prize.

  • Network Track: The team consisting of Le Nhu Quynh and Dinh Hoang Anh (PTIT), and Nguyen Le Hong Khanh (Hanoi University of Science and Technology) achieved the Third Prize.

Vietnamese team wins the Excellent Award in the Computing Track

Vietnamese team secures Second Prize in the Cloud Track

Assoc. Vietnamese team earns Third Prize in the Network Track

Sharing her joy after winning the Excellent Award in the Computing Track, Mai Thi Phuong, a PTIT student, said: “I am extremely happy and proud to receive the highest award at the regional round of the Huawei ICT Competition. I sincerely thank Huawei Vietnam for always accompanying us and providing opportunities to learn, gain hands-on experience, and connect with international peers. The theoretical knowledge and practical experience gained through this competition will be invaluable for my future career.”

With this remarkable achievement, the nine outstanding students will continue to represent Vietnam at the Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025 Global Final, competing with international students in the Computing, Cloud, and Network Tracks, scheduled to take place in May 2025 in China.
