Recently, at its Hanoi campus, the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) formally welcomed a delegation of professors from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH, Korea) for a visit and to attend the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between the two institutions.

The POSTECH delegation consisted of nearly 20 professors from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and faculty members in charge of the BK21 Plus Program on Innovative Emerging Technologies, led by Professor You Donghyun.

On the PTIT side, under the direction of the PTIT’s leadership, participants included Dr. Ngo Duc Thien, Head of the Office of Science and Technology Management and International Cooperation; Dr. Nguyen Trung Hieu, Vice Dean in charge of the Faculty of Electronics Engineering 1; along with numerous lecturers from the faculty and staff and lecturers from relevant units.

During the meeting, the two institutions held the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU was signed between PTIT (through the Faculty of Electronics Engineering 1) and POSTECH (through the Department of Mechanical Engineering) with the aim of promoting mutual benefits in education and research and strengthening international cooperation between the two universities. The planned areas of cooperation include: exchange of lecturers and researchers; exchange of scholars participating in conferences, workshops, and seminars; student exchange programs; exchange of scientific and technological research materials; and joint research projects.

Following the signing ceremony, the two universities engaged in discussions to further specify and implement the agreed cooperation activities in the coming period.

Founded in 1986 as Korea’s first research-oriented university, POSTECH is a young institution and one of the country’s leading universities dedicated exclusively to science and engineering. POSTECH offers four-year undergraduate programs across 10 departments, while its graduate school provides programs in 11 departments. Pohang University of Science and Technology is home to 64 research centers and numerous state-of-the-art research facilities.
