On August 6, 2024, the Vietnam IT Day 2024 event was held in Japan, under the theme “Vietnam – A Comprehensive IT Partner for Japan’s Sustainable Digital Economy.” The Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) participated in the event and signed three significant cooperation agreements with various partners for research and training.
Key figures at the event included Minister of Information and Communications Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Phạm Quang Hiệu, Mr. Nomura Eigo, Director of the International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) Japan, and representatives from Vietnamese businesses in Japan. The PTIT delegation, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Từ Minh Phương, Chairman of the Institute’s Council, also attended the program.
During the event, representatives shared insights on Vietnam’s ICT industry development, the achievements of Vietnamese ICT companies in Japan, and future business opportunities for both countries. Discussions also covered digital industry policies, infrastructure development, business transformation, and opportunities for bilateral cooperation. As part of the Vietnam IT Day 2024 activities, the Vietnam-Japan Digital Transformation Association was launched, and the Minister of Information and Communications awarded certificates of recognition to outstanding Vietnamese digital companies in Japan, such as FPT, CMC, VTI, LUVINA, RIKKEI SOFT, and KAOPIZ.
Throughout the program, PTIT signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with several Japanese institutions and companies. Specifically, PTIT and Aizu University formalized a 3+2 joint training program, with Aizu awarding degrees. PTIT also signed an MoU with AGest (Japan) to support internships and training in Robotics, AI, and IT. Additionally, PTIT and GAG Japanese Language Institute signed an MoU for Japanese language and cultural training programs, as well as digital university programs for the Vietnamese community in Japan.
The agreements signed between PTIT and its Japanese partners during the Vietnam IT Day 2024 pave the way for new collaborations in research, academic exchanges, and student exchanges between PTIT and Japanese institutions. The event also played a crucial role in strengthening business ties between Vietnam and Japan.
Vietnam is recognized as Japan’s second-largest IT partner, and both countries continue to prioritize workforce development to meet the growing demands of businesses. Vietnam IT Day 2024 is one of the three major annual programs aimed at connecting businesses from both countries, organized by the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA), the Japan IT Services Industry Association (JISA), and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), with the support of the Ministry of Information and Communications.
