From May 16 to 17, 2024, at Hanoi campus, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) hosted the “PTIT-CAU HACKATHON 2024” competition in collaboration with Chung Ang University, South Korea. The event aimed to create an academic platform for students in the field of Multimedia Technology.
The competition was designed to inspire creativity, foster an entrepreneurial spirit in the Multimedia Technology sector, and enhance academic exchanges between Vietnamese and Korean students. Participants had the opportunity to develop innovative ideas and products with guidance from experts from leading companies in both countries. The competition was led by Professor Wi Jong-Hyun, President of the Korean Game Association and a leading expert in multimedia technology at Chung Ang University.
Students from PTIT’s Multimedia Faculty, along with their peers from four Korean universities—Chung Ang University, Kon Kuk University, Kyung Hee University, and Kaywon Arts and Design University—were divided into five teams. These teams were organized based on product categories rather than universities, promoting teamwork and fostering both cultural and professional exchanges among the institutions. The teams developed business ideas for products in areas such as 2D/3D animation, games, VR/AR, and short videos, transforming them into prototypes during the two-day competition.
After 15 hours of brainstorming, training, and intense competition, the teams, supported by professors from Chung Ang University, PTIT, and mentors from leading organizations such as Vietsoft Pro, Gamegeek Asia, Lac Bird, Nextchallenge Foundation, and ASEAN Labs, successfully completed their projects. The final results were as follows: The XR Studio Hub team won first place, the Cappo and 2×2 teams took second place, and the Rabbit Tracker and Netopia teams claimed third place.
In December 2023, PTIT and Chung Ang University signed a cooperation agreement focusing on faculty and student exchange programs. Earlier in 2024, PTIT’s student team won the Silver Prize at the “Global Startup Design Thinking” competition hosted by Chung Ang University.
