On April 8, 2024, the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) officially opened the FOSSASIA Summit 2024, Asia’s premier conference on IT and open-source technologies.
The opening ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Tu Minh Phuong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Anh, Vice President of PTIT; Mrs. Dang Hong Phuc, Founder of FOSSASIA; Mr. Mario Behling, Co-founder of FOSSASIA; and over 200 distinguished global speakers, experts in IT and open-source technology.
In his speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Anh expressed his delight in hosting the conference at PTIT and emphasized: “As the only university directly under the Ministry of Information and Communications and one of the leading institutions in the IT and telecommunications sector, PTIT is honored to be selected as the venue for FOSSASIA Summit 2024. This conference presents an invaluable opportunity for our students and faculty to learn from world-class technology experts and stay abreast of emerging tech trends.”

During the event, Mrs. Dang Hong Phuc, founder of FOSSASIA, shared: “I hope that the FOSSASIA Summit will serve as a key platform for local businesses to access the latest technological solutions and support Vietnamese programmers in enhancing their expertise, skills, and knowledge to remain competitive on the international stage. The FOSSASIA Summit 2024 will take place over three days, from April 8 to 10, 2024, at PTIT’s Hanoi campus. The summit will feature a variety of workshops and exhibitions, including a keynote session on “Open Source Solutions for Sustainable Development” and an exhibition displaying cutting-edge IT products and solutions from leading tech companies such as Huawei, Google, Oracle, Arm, Fujitsu, AWS, and Viettel.
Throughout the event, speakers will give presentations and conduct hands-on workshops on some of today’s most captivating tech topics, including Artificial Intelligence (AI, GenAI, OpenAI), Open Source Hardware, RISC-V Open-Source Chip Manufacturing, Semiconductor Technology, Cloud & DevOps, Web3 & Crypto, Information Security, and Digital Databases.
In addition to the tech sessions, the FOSSASIA Summit will also feature an exhibition highlighting technological solutions from major industry players like openEuler (Huawei), Google, Oracle/MySQL, ARM Holdings (specializing in semiconductors), and others. This will provide an excellent opportunity for tech enthusiasts in Vietnam to interact directly with representatives from multinational corporations, industry experts, and explore potential collaborations, career prospects, and advancements in the IT sector.
