As part of the ongoing collaboration between the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) and Gunma University (Japan), Four PTIT Undergraduate Students took part in the Student Exchange Program in Japan from November 28 to December 4, 2024.

The four participating students were Trần Văn Tú (D23CQDK01-B), Nguyễn Văn Danh (D20DTRB), Dương Đức Quân (D24CQDK02-B), Lê Sỹ Sang (D20DTMT2). The program focused on students in Automation Control and Robotics within the Faculty of Electronics Engineering 1 at PTIT. Eligible candidates included those with a GPA of at least 2.7/4 (for D23 and earlier cohorts), or for D24, the top-ranking student in the Automation Control. Applicants with strong communication skills in English or Japanses, exceptional achievements in competitions, and active participant in extracurricular activites were prioritized. Upon their arrival in Japan, the students quickly adapted to the academic environment at Gunma University. They engaged with leading professors, lecturers, and outstanding international peers while immersing themselves in Japanese culture. The program also included cultural exchanges, career orientation sessions in technology and automation, and opportunities for independent study and research. The students were supported by Dr. Mai Thị Nghĩa from PTIT’s Department of Electronic Engineering 1, who is based at PTIT’s Research and Training Cooperation Office in Japan.

Reflecting on the program, Dương Đức Quân, a first-year Automation Control Engineering student, shared his excitement and pride in participating. Despite being at PTIT for only three months, he valued the chance to interact with international peers and receive guidance from professors at both Gunma University and PTIT. Quân expressed his ambition to excel academically and pursue advanced studies in Japan.

Looking ahead, five more PTIT students will participate in the exchange program at Gunma University in February 2025 through the Sakura Science Scholarship Program.

The partnership between PTIT and Gunma University began in 2022 with a cooperation agreement aimed at fostering faculty, researcher, and student exchanges. Joint initiatives include research group formation, academic workshops, and the sharing of educational materials and publications. Since 2023, PTIT’s Research and Training Cooperation Office in Japan has hosted numerous students annually, supported by a dedicated team of one official and two resident doctoral researchers.
