(Chinhphu.vn) – On the morning of April 24, right after attending the launching ceremony of the emulation movement “The whole country competes in innovation and digital transformation”, , Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh worked with the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT).

Currently under the Ministry of Science and Technology, PTIT has been honored by the Prime Minister to be approved for planning as one of the five key national universities in engineering and technology.

PTIT currently has large training facilities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, four research institutes and one affiliated short-term training center. The training scale of the PTIT is currently about 25,000 students and trainees with 50 majors/training programs.

According to reports and opinions at the meeting, during the 28 years since its establishment, carrying out the mission of linking research – training – production and business, PTIT has always strived to innovate and pioneer in piloting new operating mechanisms, training new professions to meet social needs and focusing on research and application of new technologies associated with the problems of enterprises and society.

Up to now, the training scale has reached about 25,000 students and by 2027 it is expected to reach about 30,000 students. The rate of good and excellent graduates is over 80% and nearly 100% of graduates have jobs.

Currently, PTIT is a leading university in digital transformation of higher education, has built a digital transformation architecture with a complete digital university ecosystem, all management activities, student support services are carried out on mobile applications with a single “touch point”.

Having extensive relations with many famous universities and large research institutes in the world, PTIT is the first university to open cooperation offices abroad in Korea, Japan and Australia. In particular, in early 2025, PTIT, together with the University of Technology Sydney, established the Vietnam – Australia Strategic Technology Center sponsored by the Australian Government. PTIT is a reliable address for cooperation in research and technology transfer of large domestic and foreign companies and organizations, such as Google, Qualcomm, Intel, ARM, AWS, Nvidia, Nokia, Samsung, Naver, VinAI, Viettel, VNPT, CMC, FPT, Mobifone, etc.

Inheriting the tradition of more than 70 years of the School of Posts and Telecommunications, PTIT has achieved many achievements and has been recognized by the Party, State, and Government and awarded the title of Heroic Unit of Labor in 2013, Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for achievements in digital transformation of higher education, in 2022. Honored by international organizations as the No. 1 ranking of universities in Vietnam for innovation in 2024 (According to SCImago) and ASOCIO 2024 award for the technology category in the field of education.

As the only higher education institution of the former Ministry of Information and Communications, now the Ministry of Science and Technology, PTIT is oriented by Minister Nguyen Manh Hung to digital transformation as a breakthrough, soon standing in the ranks of leading educational and training institutions in ASEAN; aiming to soon become the first digital university in Vietnam.

PTIT will enter a new development phase, a new mission, creating and transferring knowledge to society through linking educational activities to train high-quality human resources, research and development and transfer of science and technology, new knowledge in the field of digital technology to contribute to the successful implementation of the strategic goals set out in Resolution 57-NQ/TW.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure to visit and work with the school at a special moment, in a special atmosphere, requiring far-sighted vision, deep thinking and great action.

The Prime Minister acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the achievements and results over the years of the school, PTIT has increasingly developed and grown with the country, with the trend of the times, and the maturity of the staff.

Regarding the orientation for the coming time, the Prime Minister stated that it is necessary to continue to closely follow the situation, forecast trends, on that basis, set out development goals, tasks and solutions in accordance with the trends, development requirements and expectations of the country and the people.

Regarding the world situation, the Prime Minister emphasized a number of important and prominent trends: Peace, cooperation and development are still the main trends; the trend of science and technology development, innovation, startups, digital transformation; integration trend, facing many national, comprehensive, global issues that no country can solve alone, it is necessary to promote multilateralism, call for international solidarity, not to leave anyone behind; take people as the center, the subject, both the driving force and the resource of development; the trend of rapid, sustainable development, not sacrificing progress, fairness, social security and the environment to pursue pure growth.

The head of the Government emphasized that PTIT must follow these trends to be able to resonate, double, triple endogenous strength, thereby accelerating development.

Regarding tasks and solutions, the Prime Minister requested PTIT to implement “5 pioneers”: Pioneer in connecting the State, university, scientists, businesses – investors; pioneer in scientific research, innovation, startups, digital transformation; pioneer in nurturing talents and developing startup “unicorns”; pioneer in self-reliance and commercialization of products; pioneer in daring to think, daring to do, daring to surpass one’s own limits.

To implement these 5 pioneers, the Prime Minister believes that the pillars are: Consolidating and promoting solidarity, unity, “first and last support, one call, all respond”, “unanimity from top to bottom, smooth operation”; valuing time, intelligence and timely decisiveness; building the university as the foundation, teachers as the driving force, inspiring students, students as the center, all activities must be directed towards students and students must contribute to the development of the university; closely linking learning and working; contributing to “changing the situation, turning around the state” of the country in terms of strategic infrastructure, especially digital transformation infrastructure, high-quality human resources, developing the digital economy, digital society, digital citizens, digital government. Commenting on the school’s proposals and recommendations, the Prime Minister also emphasized the need for state management ministries to limit specific work and focus on building strategies, institutions, mechanisms, development policies, mechanisms for mobilizing development resources, leading and directing the rapid and sustainable development of sectors and fields, designing tools for inspection, urging, monitoring and evaluation; promoting decentralization and delegation of authority, assigning tasks to whoever does the best and most effectively.
