With the support of the Australia–Vietnam Strategic Technologies Centre (AVSTC), on March 6, a delegation of four students from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT), led by Dr. Dang Hoang Long, arrived at the Applied Artificial Intelligence Institute (A2i2) at Deakin University, Australia, to begin an eight-day short-term research internship program.

The internship is part of the International Excellence Research Program in Artificial Intelligence jointly conducted by A2i2 and PTIT. The program aims to provide PTIT students with opportunities to directly engage in research activities in areas such as artificial intelligence, multimodal models, and AI applications in healthcare. Through this program, students can develop their research capabilities, refine their research ideas, and work towards publishing their findings in reputable academic forums and journals.
The participating students include:
Nguyễn Thành An
Lê Xuân Dũng
Lê Quang Hải
Nguyễn Khắc Gia Hoàng

Under the guidance of Dr. Dang Hoang Long, the students had the opportunity to listen to and interact with leading researchers at A2i2, including Professor Svetha Venkatesh and Professor Truyền Trần. In addition, the students engaged in discussions with mentors and PhD researchers at A2i2, gaining valuable insights into the international research environment and exchanging experiences in conducting scientific projects.
Notably, the internship program is strongly supported by the Australia–Vietnam Strategic Technologies Centre (AVSTC) — a bilateral initiative established to promote collaboration in key strategic technology areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital transformation between Australia and Vietnam. Acting as a bridge between academia, industry, and government, AVSTC plays a crucial role in fostering joint research programs, facilitating talent exchange, and supporting capacity building for emerging technology ecosystems in both countries.

Through its support, AVSTC not only enables mobility opportunities like this internship but also contributes to building long-term partnerships between leading institutions. The Centre’s involvement ensures that collaborative activities are aligned with shared strategic priorities, while also opening pathways for future funding, co-supervised research, and innovation-driven projects.
This internship marks a positive step in strengthening PTIT’s international research profile and enhancing collaboration between PTIT and Deakin University. With the continued support of AVSTC, it is expected that this cooperation will expand further, leading to more student exchange scholarships, joint research initiatives, and impactful contributions to the global AI research community.
