On June 5, 2024, during the “Investment Attraction to Fukuoka City, Japan” seminar in Hanoi, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) and Fukuoka Institute of Technology signed a cooperation agreement focused on human resource development.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Soichiro Takashima, Mayor of Fukuoka City, Mr. Phan Tam, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), and other representatives from both Vietnamese and Japanese agencies, ministries, and businesses. PTIT was represented by Associate Professor Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, President of PTIT.

According to the agreement, PTIT and Fukuoka Institute of Technology will collaborate on several initiatives, including student exchanges at the undergraduate and graduate levels, faculty and staff exchanges, joint research activities, and the sharing of expertise and publications in areas of mutual interest. Additionally, the two institutions will establish a student exchange program, where each year, they will select and send students to participate in study and internship programs at each other’s universities.

In 2024, PTIT launched the Vietnam-Japan Information Technology program to meet the demand for skilled human resources in Japan. The program will admit 100 students in its first year. Students will receive training based on the Japanese ITSS (Information Technology Skill Standards) and, upon completion, will earn an IT engineering degree from PTIT. Furthermore, students will gain Japanese language proficiency equivalent to N3 and receive assistance in securing employment at Japanese companies in both Vietnam and Japan.

This program is a key part of PTIT’s broader strategy to stay ahead in developing high-quality human resources. PTIT already collaborates with several Japanese universities, including Hosei, Hokkaido, and Tsukuba, and Fukuoka.

During the seminar, two memorandums of understanding (MOUs) were signed between the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and Fukuoka City to strengthen investment activities. In his opening speech, Mayor Soichiro Takashima praised Vietnam’s growing IT talent pool and its vibrant IT sector. He noted that companies like FPT, Rikkeisoft, and VMO have expanded their operations in Fukuoka. The 17-company delegation from Fukuoka attending the seminar expressed their eagerness to collaborate with Vietnamese businesses. Mayor Takashima expressed his hope that more companies would choose Fukuoka as a hub for innovation and new business opportunities.

At the seminar, Deputy Minister Phan Tâm emphasized the importance of the event in attracting investment to Fukuoka City. He highlighted that Vietnam has 1,500 digital technology companies generating around 7.5 billion USD in revenue from foreign markets, making Vietnam a valuable partner for Fukuoka’s digital technology businesses.
