13 higher education institutions of Vietnam have been selected by the Ministry of Education to lead centers of excellence and talent in technology in 9 fields.
The list was announced by the Ministry of Education and Training on the morning of June 14, at the conference to deploy projects on human resource development and cooperation of the three parties of State-Education institution-Enterprise.
Project 347 was approved by the Government in February, aiming to develop a system of centers of excellence and talents on the basis of focused and key investments for a number of higher education institutions with strengths. This group will act as the nucleus to connect and exploit domestic and foreign resources for training, research, and technology transfer activities in a number of priority technology fields of Industry 4.0.
In each priority technology field, the Government requires the formation of 1-2 networks of centers of excellence and talents. In particular, the fields of artificial intelligence, semiconductor industry and biotechnology need at least 2-3 networks in the North, Central and South regions.
Each hub network is led by a strong university and has at least five other education institutions and a number of participating businesses.
Among the listed fields and institutions, PTIT is the only university taking lead for the fields of next generation network technology, intelligent network security technology and multimedia communication.
According to the project, each network must organize at least one excellent program on adaptive training or retraining, advanced training, and specialized training. At the same time, each network will strive to attract at least 100 good scientists and experts, Vietnamese people living abroad or foreigners, to participate in teaching and research.
