On March 2, at Ho Chi Minh City campus, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) held a working session with a senior leadership delegation from Oregon State University (OSU), led by Professor Jayathi Murthy, President of OSU. Representing PTIT were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Anh, Vice President of PTIT, along with leaders and representatives from various departments and functional units.

During the meeting, PTIT representatives provided an overview of their academic programs, key research groups, and development strategies focusing on AI, Integrated Circuits, Semiconductors, Telecommunications, and Digital Transformation. OSU representatives shared insights into their interdisciplinary research ecosystem, international standard training programs, and extensive global cooperation network.

Founded in 1868, Oregon State University is a leading public research university in the United States, attracting students from over 100 countries. OSU is ranked among the top 1.4% of universities worldwide by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) and hosts one of the largest Computer Science programs in the United States. The university’s total research funding reached approximately USD 417 million in fiscal year 2025.

The two parties discussed several key cooperative pillars, including:

  • Joint training programs and student exchanges.
  • Research collaboration and faculty exchanges in the fields of AI, Robotics, and Semiconductors.
  • Cooperation in doctoral (PhD) programs and participation in national and international research projects.
  • Development of high-quality human resources for Vietnam’s strategic technology sectors, with a particular focus on semiconductors and AI.

Notably, OSU highlighted its strong research capacity in AI, supported by a distinguished global alumni network. This includes Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, who has contributed significantly to the advancement of AI research initiatives at OSU.

The working session concluded in an open and productive atmosphere, featuring a ceremonial gift exchange and a commemorative photo session. Both sides agreed to continue in-depth discussions toward formalizing specific cooperation programs, contributing to the advancement of high-tech education and research in alignment with PTIT’s internationalization strategy.
