On September 21, 2024, at Hanoi campus, the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT), in collaboration with Falcon Technology JSC (FALCON), officially inaugurated its Game Technology Practice Lab. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Tu Minh Phuong, Chairman of PTIT’s Council, Dr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Vice President of PTIT; Mr. Pham Hong Quan, Director of FALCON and representatives from various departments along with students from PTIT’s Game Design and Development program.

The Game Technology Practice Lab was funded by FALCON as part of a collaboration agreement signed in July 2024. As part of the agreement, FALCON provided over 40 high-performance computers and modern equipment tailored for game design practice. FALCON also assisted in designing the lab following the company’s own operating model.

During the inauguration, Prof. Dr. Tu Minh Phuong, Mr. Pham Hong Quan, and other leaders from both institutions officially opened the lab with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Tu Minh Phuong highlighted that the Ministry of Information and Communications is formulating a strategy to develop Vietnam’s gaming industry, including building a skilled workforce for the field. As a unit under the Ministry, PTIT decided to launch a game design program, leveraging its expertise in multimedia training, which it has offered for over 10 years. He affirmed that, as part of PTIT’s overall development strategy, the institute has been working closely with businesses to develop and evaluate training programs and to enhance facilities for research and learning. Prof. Dr. Tu Minh Phuong praised FALCON for its direct contributions to the development of infrastructure and curriculum and expressed high hopes that PTIT’s undergraduate game design program will soon produce high-quality game developers.

PTIT’s Game Design and Development program is the first specialized university-level program in Vietnam, aimed at training a workforce capable of mastering game design and development technologies at an advanced level. This will help meet the needs of Vietnam’s game industry as well as regional and global markets. The cooperation with FALCON in establishing the Game Technology Practice Lab exemplifies the collaboration between academia and industry to deliver specialized training programs that enhance practical skills and provide an open practice space for PTIT students. The inauguration of the lab aligns perfectly with PTIT’s game training objectives.

In the near future, PTIT and FALCON will continue to collaborate on organizing visits, workshops, training, and internships at FALCON’s offices on an annual basis to support PTIT’s student training. FALCON will prioritize recruiting PTIT students with outstanding academic results for internships and employment. PTIT will also assist in promoting FALCON’s job postings on its communication channels to provide more career opportunities for its students. The event concluded with commemorative photos of the attendees and PTIT students from the Game Design and Development program.
