On August 21, 2024, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) held a ceremony to announce the resolution of the Council on the appointment of Dr. Nguyen Trung Kien – Director of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology (CDIT), a unit under the institute, as the Vice President of PTIT. Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam witnessed and congratulated the new vice president of PTIT and delivered a speech assigning responsibilities.

Attending the announcement ceremony there also were leaders of various functional departments under the Ministry of Information and Communications, including the Department of Personnel, the Department of International Cooperation, and the Department of Science and Technology. From the institute, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Hoai Bac – President of PTIT, Prof. Dr. Tu Minh Phuong – Chairman of the PTIT’s University Council.

Dr. Nguyen Trung Kien was appointed as Vice President of PTIT for the term 2020–2025, starting from August 20, 2024.. In his speech accepting the new role, Dr. Nguyen Trung Kien expressed gratitude for the trust of the leadership of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the institute leadership, and pledged to make efforts to manage and execute the assigned tasks effectively, contributing to the development of the institute in the future.

Vice President Nguyen Trung Kien also outlined his vision for the areas of science and technology assigned to him, which include digital transformation, promoting scientific research and innovation, and applying scientific and technological solutions to address issues related to training quality and strategic management. Emphasizing the importance and urgency of strengthening PTIT’s leadership team, Prof. Dr. Tu Minh Phuong, Chairman of the PTIT Council, mentioned that Dr. Nguyen Trung Kien had been actively involved in implementing and contributing to the achievement of the institute’s development goals and objectives until 2025. The institute’s leadership believes that, with the addition of a vice president in charge of science and technology, the institute will achieve even greater strides, meeting the expectations of the leadership of the Ministry of Information and Communications. In his congratulatory speech, as the President PTIT, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Hoai Bac expressed his hope that the new vice president Nguyen Trung Kien would expand his macro vision in scientific research and technology transfer, strengthen research collaborations with domestic and international partners, and elevate the institute’s international ranking and reputation in scientific research.

Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam also congratulated the institute’s leadership team on the addition of new management personnel and expressed confidence that the new vice president Nguyen Trung Kien would work with the institute’s leadership to achieve the ambitious strategic goals regarding the institute’s international rankings.

By 2030 PTIT aims to become the leading university in Vietnam in terms of scale, training quality, and scientific research, pioneering in digital transformation, and becoming a top university in the region, ranking among the top 100 universities in Asia and the top 5 in ASEAN. On behalf of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Deputy Minister Phan Tam assigned tasks to the new vice president Nguyen Trung Kien, entrusting him, along with the institute’s leadership, to unite and attract talents and intellectuals to steadfastly pursue the institute’s strategic development goals.
