On 8 August 2023, the Scientific Roundtable of “Applying Best Practices and Next Generation Cyber Protection Tools to Improve Governments Security Posture” was co-organised at the Institute of Posts and Telecommunications Technology (PTIT) at Hanoi Campus by PTIT and the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Australia diplomatic relationship in 2023.
The Roundtable was participated by leading experts in cyber security with discussion on 3 topics of High performance/high assurance Encryption & Use Cases. Network deployment Options, International standards supported. Crypto Agility Best Practices! and localization/ customization for Vietnam customers. How?; Quantum Computing, assessing the threat and how to transition to a Quantum safe environment and Sovereignty law compliance with secure file sharing, attributes of vendor options and suitability for Vietnam.
The Roundtable honorably welcomed H.E. Andrew Goledzinowski-the Ambassador, Mr. Chris Morley, Trade and Investment Commissioner of the Embassy of Australia in Vietnam, Mr. Thanh Cao Chinh, Austrade’s Senior Business Development Manager, Mr. Michael Stephens, International Business Asia, Senetas. From PTIT’s side, there was Dr. Vu Tuan Lam, Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Xuan Dau, Dean of Cyber Security Faculty and other researchers and experts.
At the welcoming speech by PTIT, Dr. Vu Tuan Lam, Vice President expressed appreciation of the organization of the Roundtable with the participation from the Embassy of Australia in Vietnam as well as the industry. The Roundtable created a valuable opportunity for PTIT’s researchers and experts in deepening and expanding knowledge about cyber security, which would greatly contribute to the development of training and research activities at PTIT.
Speaking at the Roundtable, H.E. Andrew Goledzinowski-the Ambassador shared that the Vietnam’s government is now very serious about cyber security and e-commerce and e-government, transformation of the entire economy. Australia also takes very seriously on cyber security so Australia made a famous decision a few years ago and were the first government to announce that our 5G technology would be procured not just on the basis of price and quality, but also with an eye on national security concerns. Vietnam and Australia would be developing a strategy on how progress our digital cooperation can progressed. He believed that digital transformation would become the fifth pillar of our comprehensive strategic partnership of the two countries.
