The AUN/SEED-Net Southeast Asia University Network project (ASEAN University Network/Southeast Asia Engineering Education Development Network) was established to promote cooperation between key technical universities in the region. Southeast Asia and Japanese universities are funded by the Japan International Development Cooperation Organization (JICA). This is a project initiated by former Japanese Prime Minister Hashimoto during the Japan-Southeast Asia Cooperation Summit in 1997.
