On September 9, 2024, Deputy Minister of Technology and Communications of Laos, Keovisouk Solaphom, led a delegation to visit and work with Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT). The delegation included leaders from various departments of the Laos’ Ministry of Technology and Communications, the Director of the Laos’ National Internet Center, and officials and specialists from the Laos’ Ministries of Culture and Tourism, Security, and Defense.

PTIT welcomed the delegation, with Prof. Dr. Tu Minh Phuong (Chairman of the PTIT Council), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Hoai Bac (President of PTIT), the university’s Vice Presidents and heads of various functional departments.

Prof. Dr. Tu Minh Phuong welcomed Deputy Minister Keovisouk Solaphom and the delegation, expressing pleasure at meeting again with the Lao Ministry’s leadership and pride in the longstanding, special relationship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Following a presentation by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Hoai Bac on PTIT’s recent notable achievements, the two sides, under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister Keovisouk Solaphom, exchanged and shared experiences in research, training, and the provision of high-quality human resources in information technology and communications, digital transformation, and internet management.

PTIT proposed plans for short-term cooperation programs, including professional training either in Laos or online. For long-term programs, PTIT will continue to accept Lao students under scholarship agreements, scholarships from enterprises, localities, and self-funded students. PTIT committed to giving special priority to Lao students studying at the university.

Deputy Minister Keovisouk Solaphom praised PTIT for its achievements and acknowledged the university’s contributions to developing ICT human resources for Laos. He highlighted that Lao students, after completing their studies in Vietnam, particularly at PTIT, have made significant contributions to the Lao postal, telecommunications, and IT sectors. Notably, for the first time, six Lao graduate students are currently enrolled in an English-language Master’s program in Computer Science.

At the end of the visit, the delegation led by Deputy Minister Keovisouk Solaphom also toured and experienced several digital transformation and AI applications developed by PTIT.
