Bradford, United Kingdom – December 16, 2025
Within the framework of the UK–Vietnam iTechPath Program, part of the “Going Global Partnerships” initiative implemented by the British Council, a delegation from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) paid an official working visit to the University of Bradford (UoB). The visit marks an important milestone, contributing to the promotion of bilateral cooperation in education, scientific research, and innovation between the two higher education institutions from Vietnam and the United Kingdom.
The UK–Vietnam iTechPath program aims to support higher education partnerships in the fields of Innovation, Science, and Technology, moving toward building a “Pathway to Excellence.” The program prioritizes key areas such as digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI), engineering–technology, sustainable energy, and applied sciences through joint research activities, curriculum development, academic exchange, and capacity building.
The PTIT delegation, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang The Ngoc, Dr. Nguyen Viet Hung, and Dr. Vu Hoai Nam, worked with leaders and representatives from specialized units at the University of Bradford, including Prof. Hassan, Dr. Vuong Mai, Mr. Carlos Santos E Sousa – Head of International Partnerships and Program Administration, along with international cooperation and admissions officers.

During the working sessions, both sides reviewed the implementation results of the iTechPath project and discussed cooperation orientations for the next phase. The focus of the discussion was the proposal to establish a UK–Vietnam Center of Excellence in Applied Artificial Intelligence (Applied AI) to meet the increasing demand for high-quality AI human resources in Vietnam, while promoting practice-oriented training and applied research.
The two parties agreed to continue implementing existing cooperation contents, such as the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on student exchange, 3+1 articulation programs, and activities within the framework of the iTechPath project. Notably, a plan to organize a short-term study-experience program at PTIT for 20–30 University of Bradford students, utilizing a project-based learning model in the field of Computer Science, received high consensus.

Prof. Robert James
As part of the visit, the PTIT delegation held a courtesy meeting and worked with Prof. Robert James, Dean of the Faculty of Management, Science, and Engineering at the University of Bradford. Prof. Robert James expressed strong support for the development of the Applied AI Talent Development Center, with the University of Bradford serving as the UK focal point and PTIT, along with leading Vietnamese universities, acting as strategic partners.

Dr. Ben Whiteside, Director of IDSF
Furthermore, intensive working sessions with the Institute for Digital & Sustainable Futures (IDSF) opened up many interdisciplinary cooperation opportunities in fields such as robotics, digital twin, drones, LiDAR, sustainable energy, smart agriculture, and health and safety—aligning with the long-term goals of the iTechPath program.
On this occasion, the delegation also met with PTIT students currently studying at the University of Bradford under the student exchange program and toured the university’s facilities, research centers, and specialized laboratories. PTIT students highly appreciated the international learning environment at Bradford and considered the exchange program a valuable opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills.
The visit concluded with an agreement on the next implementation steps, including organizing webinars, developing applied AI training programs, and drafting proposals for the next phase of the iTechPath project, contributing to strengthening sustainable cooperation and promoting high-quality human resource development for both Vietnam and the United Kingdom.
