Within the framework of cooperation activities between the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) and Gunma University (Japan) under the Sakura scholarship program, from February 21 to February 27, 2025, 4 PTIT students participated in the student exchange program in Japan.
The program is for students of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering 1, Telecommunications Electronics, Information Technology of PTIT, with a minimum GPA of 2.7/4. The program gives priority to students with good English communication skills, good Japanese communication skills, excellent achievements in competitions organized by PTIT and in scientific research. Students of PTIT are sponsored for round-trip airfare, accommodation and travel expenses in Japan during the program.

In Japan, 4 students also spent time studying and researching at the PTIT Training and Research Cooperation Office in Japan under the guidance of Dr. Mai Thi Nghia – Head of the Department of Control and Automation, Faculty of Electronic Engineering 1 and resident staff of the PTIT Office in Japan. The delegation of students of PTIT, together with Japanese and Thai students, created teams to compete in programming soccer robots. And the delegation of students of PTIT excelled in programming robots and had the best results in the robot programming groups.

In addition, during the short-term exchange in Japan, students will have access to modern technologies, participate in research and learn from leading professors at Gunma University. In addition, candidates will have the opportunity to exchange cultures, connect with excellent international students and orient their careers in the field of automation technology.
Previously, in 2022, PTIT signed a cooperation agreement with Gunma University. The two universities will have cooperative activities to exchange lecturers, researchers, students and graduate schools to teach and study in Japan and Vietnam; establish joint research groups and academic seminars between training faculties and research groups; exchange information, publications and research and teaching materials of the two universities. From 2023 to present, each year the PTIT Research and Training Cooperation Office in Japan welcomes dozens of students to participate in student exchange programs in Japan. Currently, the PTIT Research and Training Cooperation Office in Japan has 1 staff member and 02 resident graduate students working at the Office. It is expected that in the coming time, Gunma University will continue to implement the Sakura scholarship program and the Japanese government scholarship (MEXT) for students and graduate students with many priorities for students of PTIT.
