On December 17, 2024, in Hanoi, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) officially held the inauguration ceremony for the Vietnam-Japan Center. Attending the event were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Anh, PTIT’s Vice President, representatives from various departments and offices. Among the Japanese attendees were Ms. Naoko Tsuki, Director of Foreign Workforce Affairs. Deparment of International Relations, Bureau of Hokkaido Prefecture, as well as delegates from companies such as Aquatech Co., Ltd., Micros Software, Inc., Sekisho Vietnam, KIS Vietnam, NTT E-Moi, Luvina Software, and NISSAN Automotive Technology Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Anh emphasized that PTIT is one of Vietnam’s leading universities in the field of ICT with over 20,000 students. PTIT is ranked first in Innovation Index according to the 2024 Scimago rankings, reflexing its dedication to being a leader in education and research. He also stated that the establishment of the Vietnam-Japan Center marked an important step in PTIT’s international collaborations and expressed hopes for further growth in partnerships with Japanese organizations, which will benefit the ICT sectors of both nations.

Dr. Mai Thi Nghia, Head of the Control and Automation Division – Representative of the Vietnam-Japan Center, shared the center’s development goals. The center aims to build a community of students interested in the Japanese language and seeking opportunities to study and work in Japan. With locations in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the center will facilitate joint research, faculty exchanges, international student programs, and employability between Vietnamese students and Japanese companies.

Ms. Naoko Tsuki, Director of Foreign Workforce Division in Japan’s International Relations Department, congratulated PTIT on the successful inauguration of the Vietnam-Japan Center. She praised PTIT’s commitment to expanding cooperation, improving education quality, and producing outstanding graduates. She highlighted that both Hokkaido and Japanese government prioritize foreign workers and are developing policies to attract skilled labor. Ms. Tsuki also expressed her hope that the center will strengthen cooperation between PTIT and its Japanese partners, particularly in Hokkaido, through programs like internships, recruitment, and student exchanges.

The Vietnam-Japan Center’s opening marks a new phase in PTIT’s cooperation with international organizations, particularly Japanese partners. The center will enhance educational exchanges and build stronger relationships between PTIT and Japanese institutions.

Discussing Future Collaboration and Opportunities

During the event, PTIT representatives and the Hokkaido delegation exchanged insights into the region’s culture, economy, and social environment, as well as its human resource needs and successful collaboration models between Vietnamese universities and Japanese businesses.

On the occasion of the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, PTIT’s Director, also welcomed the Hokkaido delegation. He emphasized PTIT’s strong commitment to collaborating with Japanese businesses in areas of training, research, and the supply of skilled human resources. He mentioned PTIT’s readiness to support Hokkaido’s need for highly skilled engineers in fields such as ICT and semiconductors. The Vietnam-Japan Center is seen as a bridge between the two countries, facilitating training, research, and providing high-quality human resources proficient in Japanese, strengthening sustainable connections between PTIT and Japanese partners.
